Family policies
What parents of teens and adult students ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and belt tests
Parents of teens are welcome on the bench by the door and can watch any class. Adults who are not training are welcome too. During a belt test we ask everyone to stay quiet and keep flash photography off.
What to wear and bring
A plain t-shirt and loose pants are fine for a first class. Take off jewelry, tie hair back, keep nails short and leave shoes off the mat. A uniform and a first belt come when you join, and we explain how at your first class.
When to stay home
If you have a fever, a cough or anything that could spread on a shared mat, stay home and message us. A missed class can be made up. Please don't send health details through the website.
Drop-off and pickup
Teens sign in at the front desk. A teen waits inside until a parent or a named adult arrives, unless a parent has told us in writing that the teen walks or rides home.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for holidays and for winter storms. We post closures on the booking page and text everyone on the class list that morning.
Leaving the club
Tell us in writing and give 30 days' notice. Billing stops when the notice ends. The same words are on the how tuition works page.
Screens and phones
Phones stay on silent in the dojo. Filming in class needs the coach's say-so, and never during a round.

Safety routines
Sign-in and collecting teens
Everyone signs in at the front desk. Teens stay in the dojo until a parent or a named adult collects them.
Gear checks
A coach checks gloves, shin guards and mouthguards before every sparring round.
Contact levels
Contact is set by the step: pads only, light contact or continuous. A coach can stop any round, and a tap or the word stop ends it at once.
Teen classes
More than one coach is on the mat in teen classes, and parents can sit by the door in view of the mat.
Class size
Classes are up to 16 students.
Floor rules
Shoes stay off the mat. Jewelry comes off, hair is tied back and nails are short.
